Steelers Georgia 2023 NFL Draft Broderick Jones

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers traded up with the New England Patriots to the No. 14 overall spot, selecting Georgia offensive tackle Broderick Jones.

Jones is a 6-foot-4, 311-pound tackle from Lithonia, Georgia. He won the 2022 and 2023 College Football Playoff national championships with the Bulldogs. He started the last four games of the 2021 season and all of the 2022 season. Career stats.

Steelers general manager Omar Khan and head coach Mike Tomlin attended his pro day in Athens, Georgia. Jones also came to UPMC Rooney Sports Complex for a pre-draft visit.

Jones played left tackle for Georgia and could be a day-one starter for the Steelers at that spot, though he will likely be placed in a training camp battle with incumbent Dan Moore Jr.

The Steelers had options at cornerback, wide receiver and defensive tackle, with Christian Gonzalez, Deonte Banks, Joey Porter Jr., Bryan Bresee and Jaxon Smith-Njigba on the board, but chose to protect and improve their investments in their last two picks, drafting Jones to block for 2021 first-rounder Najee Harris and protect 2022 first-round pick Kenny Pickett.
