PHILADELPHIA — After Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown scored his third touchdown of the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, he wanted to make sure the defenders he beat were aware of that fact.

With Steelers cornerback Ahekllo Witherspoon and Minkah Fitzpatrick on the ground in the end zone at Lincoln Financial Field, Brown gave a little point to each defender that had just failed at stopping him.

Brown was penalized for taunting on the play. He said his little counting gesture was meant to suggest that maybe the Steelers could have used a third man to try to stop him.

“I was saying one, two, that’s not enough,” Brown said.

Witherspoon said he didn’t even realize what Brown had did until he saw it on social media.

“I didn’t know what he did,” Witherspoon said.

Many fans online felt that Brown’s gesture wasn’t harmful and shouldn’t have been called a taunt. Witherspoon said he didn’t have any problem with what Brown did.

“He just scored a touchdown, I don’t care what he does,” Witherspoon said, adding that he has no hard feelings about the event.

With what Brown did to the Steelers on Sunday, with six catches for 156 yards and three touchdowns, it would be hard for anything he said or did outside the lines to add to the insult.
