The Pittsburgh Steelers should target Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin in free agency this offseason, according to an all-32 team profile by Pro Football Focus.

The article listed one free agent that each team should pursue, and the Steelers were obviously connected to a wide receiver.

The 6-foot-1, 209-pound Godwin was on pace for one the best seasons of his career before suffering a season-ending ankle injury in Week 7. Godwin recorded 50 receptions for 576 yards (11.5 average) and five touchdowns, an average of 82 yards and seven catches per game. He ranked second in the NFL in receiving yards at the time of his injury.

Godwin, who underwent surgery on his dislocated ankle, is expected to make a full recovery for 2025. The 28-year-old just finished the final year of a three-year, $60 million contract with the Buccaneers.

Godwin was originally selected in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Penn State by Tampa Bay. In 2019, he made the Pro Bowl and was named second-team All-Pro. The following season, he played a key part in helping the Bucs win a Super Bowl title.

The Steelers have been searching for wide receiver help ever since trading Diontae Johnson to the Carolina Panthers in March, and with uncertainty surrounding the future of current star George Pickens, adding to the wide receiver room early in free agent seems like a move that should be a priority for the Steelers and general manager Omar Khan this offseason.
