Video Breakdown: Can Mitch Trubisky Keep Steelers Afloat?

One of several lowlights during the Pittsburgh Steelers loss to the Arizona Cardinals was the unfortunate injury of their starting quarterback Kenny Pickett. With news that an ankle injury will sideline him for the next several weeks, the offense will be turned over to a familiar face in Mitch Trubisky. Following Ben Roethlisberger’s retirement, the organization signed the former Chicago Bears starting and No. 2 overall draft pick to be the bridge quarterback to usher in a new era. Unfortunately, things never quite got off the ground for the former number two overall selection in 2017.

The Steelers offense is struggling which gives Trubisky an opportunity to put himself back into contention for starting consideration somewhere down the line. SN analyst Derrick Bell breaks down his performance against the New England Patriots in 2022 to see how he performed in the matchup. This video also details the similarities and differences between he and Pickett, while taking a look at some of the things that he can provide to a currently stagnant offense.

Pittsburgh is in the middle of a playoff push and if they wish to keep a stronghold on a wild card spot, they’ll need Trubisky to provide some competent quarterback play in the meantime.
