The Steelers signed Scales for the first time in January 2019 and he spent training camp with the team before being released on Aug. 31. But he did not catch on with another NFL team and entered the XFL Draft. As a two-time All-American at Indiana, Scales did initially bring some pedigree to the table for the Steelers.
However, he has not been impressive struggled and struggled throughout camp. With little to no special teams value compared to someone like Calvin Bundage, it left Scales on the outside looking in.
