Steelers Waive Injured CB DeMarkus Acy

The Pittsburgh Steelers placed defensive back DeMarkus Acy on the waived/injured list, the club announced Wednesday.

Acy tweeted Tuesday night that he had suffered a torn ACL.

If Acy clears waivers, he will be placed on injured reserve. He will more than likely miss the entire season.

Pittsburgh signed Acy as a street free agent on May 3. He signed with the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent out of Missouri in 2020 and spent training camp with the club.

“It hurts that this happened just days before my pro debut but there’s no quit in me,” Acy said in the Twitter post. “Prayer has always got me through anything and I continue to live through faith and let life teach me valuable lessons.”

While Acy was unlikely to make the 53-man roster, he was in the thick of the battle for the club’s No. 7 cornerback on the practice squad.
