Steelers Want Closer Look at High-Profile NFL Draft Cornerback

Ole Miss cornerback Trey Amos will take a pre-draft visit with the Pittsburgh Steelers, he announced during an appearance on The Insiders on NFL Network on Friday.
Amos told Mike Garafalo and Ian Rapoport he’s visiting the Steelers, Philadelphia Eagles, Arizona Cardinals, Buffalo Bills and Tampa Bay Buccaneers next week.
The Steelers previously met with Amos at the 2025 Senior Bowl, and also sent assistant general manager Andy Weidl and defensive back scouting specialist Ike Taylor to his pro day last Friday.
Amos, 23, will likely be a Day 2 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft after registering a career-high 50 tackles (39 solo), one forced fumble, three interceptions and 13 passes defensed in 2024.

“You’re gonna see a lot of being physical at the line of scrimmage against wide receivers, being a technician,” Amos said. “I feel like I’m box of all traits. I can play man. I can play zone. I can do it all.”
The 6-foot-1, 195-pound defensive back also tested well at the NFL Scouting Combine, recording a 4.43-second 40-yard dash, 32.5-inch vertical jump and 10-foot-6 broad jump.
As a result, Amos now ranks as the consensus No. 41 overall player on the NFL Mock Draft Database big board. It’s not clear how the Steelers would draft Amos, as they do not currently have a pick in the second round after trading theirs to the Seattle Seahawks for DK Metcalf.
The Steelers have an obvious future need at outside cornerback, with 34-year-old free agent Darius Slay signed only to a one-year deal. Amos could be a potential long-term fit alongside Joey Porter Jr. in the Pittsburgh secondary.
The Steelers had not hosted a single cornerback for a pre-draft visit before Friday, when Florida State’s Azareye’h Thomas was at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex.
When he visits next week, Amos will be the second.
