BALTIMORE — The Pittsburgh Steelers are heavy favorites to earn an AFC Wild Card playoff berth following their Week 18 win over the Baltimore Ravens and the Jacksonville Jaguars’ victory over the Indianapolis Colts.

All the Steelers need to do to make the postseason now is avoid a tie between the Los Angeles Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday night. Fivethirtyeight.com gives the Steelers a greater than 99% chance of making the playoffs.

Waiting for them when they get there will be a stiff test.

Assuming the Steelers make the playoffs, they will enter as the No. 7 seed, and they will play the top seed in the first round, meaning at trip to Kansas City to visit the Chiefs.

That’s a place the Steelers are familiar with, though not in a good way.

The Steelers visited the Chiefs on Dec. 26 and were served a thorough beating, losing 36-10 to the back-to-back AFC champions.
