Wide receiver Anthony Johnson has cleared waivers and reverted to the Steelers injured reserve, according to the NFL transactions list on Friday.

Johnson was waived with an injury designation on Thursday. He has since cleared waivers and will now be placed on the Steelers’ injured reserve list. Johnson will be eligible to return from the injured reserve after the Steelers’ Week 9 game against the Dallas Cowboys.

If Johnson returns to full health before then, he can work out an injury settlement with the Steelers and become a free agent.

Johnson was injured during the Steelers’ practice on Monday and was seen in crutches during Tuesday’s workout session. The Steelers replaced him on their 80-man roster on Friday by re-signing wide receiver Saeed Blacknall.

A second-year pro out of Buffalo, Johnson spent 2019 training camp with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the regular season on the Los Angeles Chargers practice squad.

He’ll become the second player on the Steelers’ injured reserve list for 2020, joining tight end Dax Raymond.
