Steelers rookie wide receiver Chase Claypool will wear No. 11, he announced on Twitter on Wednesday night.

The Steelers’ second-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft out of Notre Dame, Claypool chose to combine the digits of the 83 he wore with the Irish, even thought that number is available with the Steelers.

“New threads.. New number.. New beginnings,” Claypool wrote on Twitter.

Other open receiver numbers included 14, 80, 81, 84, and 88. The Nos. 12 and 86 have been taken out of circulation to honor retired quarterback Terry Bradshaw and wide receiver Hines Ward.

Two Steelers players wore No. 11 in 2019: wide receivers Donte Moncrief and Deon Cain. Cain later changed his number to 17. The rest of the Steelers draft class has not announced their uniform number selections.
