Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens has had the opportunity to play with several talented players to start his NFL career, but he revealed his dream teammate is still in the league.

“My dream teammate would probably be Aaron Rodgers,” Pickens said. “Aaron Rodgers or Ed Reed. Something like that.”

Rodgers just wrapped up his 20th season in the NFL and his second with the New York Jets, who he was traded to by the Green Bay Packers in 2023.

The 41-year-old still has one year left on his contract, but Pickens may just get his wish since the Jets revealed their plans to move on from Rodgers last week and the Steelers are among the favorites to land him this offseason.

Rodgers’ two-year stint in New York didn’t go as he likely imagined. He ruptured his Achilles tendon on just the fourth offensive snap of his Jets debut, ending his 2023 season before it started.

Then in 2024, Rodgers led his team to a very disappointing 5-12 finish while throwing for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

Those aren’t the numbers Rodgers is used to putting up in his illustrious career, which is highlighted by a Super Bowl XLV championship, four NFL MVP awards and 10 Pro Bowl selections, but he could still prove to be serviceable in 2025.

In fact, Rodgers’ 2024 campaign was better than that of Steelers quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Justin Fields combined — 3,588 yards, 21 touchdowns and six interceptions.

The Steelers still seem to be weighing their options at quarterback for next season. But if Wilson and Fields both head elsewhere in free agency, Rodgers could turn out to be Pittsburgh’s next starting quarterback.

While that wouldn’t make every Steeler happy, Pickens would get his wish of playing with his dream teammate in 2025.
