Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster Is ‘Super Proud’ the Steelers Paid T.J. Watt ‘What He’s Worth’
PITTSBURGH — JuJu Smith-Schuster entered the 2021 offseason hoping for a big-time contract as he entered free agency for the first time.
Things didn’t work out that way for the Steelers wide receiver, but that hasn’t stopped him from being happy when his teammates get paid.
Smith-Schuster was one of several Steelers players to publicly speak out in favor of Watt during his time holding out of team practices, and he said unprompted on Friday that the he’s happy for Watt to sign an extension.
“I’m really, really super excited about T.J.s re-up,” Smith-Schuster said. “Obviously, I know the Steelers don’t do contracts during the season, so I knew that was coming. I’m just super proud that obviously, we paid he what he’s worth. You saw it this past weekend against Buffalo. He made a huge impact for us to get points on the board.”
Watt’s four-year extension has $80 million in guaranteed money. Meanwhile, Smith-Schuster will make $8 million this season
