Study: Browns QB Baker Mayfield Most Hated Player in Pennsylvania
Likely fueled by the animus of Steelers fans, Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield is the most disliked player in the states of Pennsylvania and West Virginia, according to a study by BetOnline.com
The study tracked twitter hashtags, keywords and location data for over 130,000 tweet over the course of a month to attempt to discern the most disliked player in every state.
Mayfield, 26, is in his fourth season as the Browns’ starting quarterback and led Cleveland to an 11-5 record in 2020 before going on to eliminate the Steelers from the playoffs in the Wild Card game at Heinz Field.
In the regular season, Mayfield is 2-3 against Pittsburgh, with both wins coming against backup Mason Rudolph, once while Ben Roethlisberger was injured in 2019 and last season when Roethlisberger rested in Week 17 at Cleveland.
Former Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown is the most disliked player in all six New England states. Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota and North Dakota hate Aaron Rogers the most.
As for the rest of the country? A whopping 36 states hate Tampa Bay quarterback Tom Brady the most, including Ohio, New York, New Jersey and Maryland in this region.
Saints quarterback Jameis Winston is the most disliked in Florida, where he used to play with Tampa Bay and at Florida State. Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson is the only player the most hated in his current state. Watson has been benched due to sexual assault allegations that are pending investigation.
