Super Bowl Champion Explains Why Steelers, Aaron Rodgers Are Good Fit
Three-time Super Bowl champion Julian Edelman explains why the Pittsburgh Steelers and quarterback Aaron Rodgers could work.

Many are beginning to question whether the Pittsburgh Steelers and Aaron Rodgers are a good fit as the free agent quarterback continues to drag out his decision. However, three-time Super Bowl champion Julian Edelman isn’t worried.
In fact, Edelman thinks the two would make a good pairing and it’s all because of head coach Mike Tomlin.
“I do think he fits the Steelers’ culture because I believe in Mike Tomlin and the professional that he is as a head coach and how he communicates with players that he can make it work with Aaron Rodgers,” Edelman said on FS1’s “The Herd.” “We didn’t hear anything about Antonio Brown until he left the Steelers.”
Tomlin has handled several other big personalities before and it seems like he’s willing to do that once again with just Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson occupying the Steelers quarterback room right now.
Rodgers has had the reputation of wanting to make things all about him, which likely won’t mix well with the Steelers’ team-first culture. But if Tomlin believes a player can help his team win, he’ll deal with whatever noise that player brings.
“That is a magic power by Mike Tomlin, who kept all that noise in the building,” Edelman said. “If there’s any place for Aaron Rodgers to probably be okay with how he handles football, I think Mike Tomlin would be a great guy for that.”
Rodgers will surely bring his fair share of distractions, but he still proved to have some good football left in him last season.
In 2024, the 41-year-old completed 368 of 584 passes (63.0%) for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

With many believing it’s a “safe bet” that Rodgers lands in Pittsburgh, it seems only time will tell if he and the Steelers are in fact a good fit.
