BALTIMORE — T.J. Watt certainly is playing with history. The star Steelers pass rusher has tied the record for most sacks in a season with his sack of Tyler Huntley against the Ravens late in the first half on Sunday.

Watt came into the game with 21.5 sacks, needing just one to tie Michael Strahan’s 21 year-old NFL record.
Strahan set the record in 2001, sacking Brett Favre in the final game of the season to best NYJ Mark Gastineau’s total of 22.
Watt has now put up one of the most dominant seasons in NFL history as a pass rusher. He still needs a half-sack or full sack to break the record proper, but achieving the milestone for Watt is a paramount achievement.
Still, the fact of the matter is that Watt is having an extraordinary season, as he has not even played in the full allotted schedule. Watt has missed halves of games due to injury and two games proper with injury. That makes his accomplishment even more impressive.
