PITTSBURGH — Terrell Edmunds and Damontae Kazee want to come back to the Steelers. After Pittsburgh’s 28-14 victory over Cleveland, Edmunds and Kazee, both impending free agents, were asked about their desire to come back to the Steelers.
To say the least, Edmunds left very little doubt that he wants to remain beside Minkah Fitzpatrick. Going into free agency once again, Edmunds now knows what to expect from the process, and this time, he expects to land where he is most comfortable, earlier on.
“I mean, I would like to come back for sure,” Edmunds said. “You know, I feel like I know what to expect this time around. I’d definitely like to be back.”
As for Kazee, he understands the business side of the NFL. He has been around cities his entire career and has no problem doing it again, but he likes the fit in Pittsburgh. If he can have it his way, Kazee would be back with the Steelers. The only question will be if they have the space to keep him.
“I hope I come back,” Kazee said. “You know, this is a business. I can’t hold my head down, no surfboard shoulders. You balance the good and bad. I can hit the road, and go to another team. But I would like to be here if I can.”
One more Steeler that is looking to potentially return is fullback Derek Watt. He appreciates all of the love that he has received in Pittsburgh. In addition, playing with his brother, T.J., is something that he can not take for granted at all. However, he will leave the book open since he can not truly control that.
“I have no idea what it’s going to look like, but I’m gonna be a free agent here,” Watt said. “I’d love to be back. You know, I love it here. The guys are great, and the team’s great. But it’s out of my hands.”
Pittsburgh has many decisions to make this offseason in terms of who to bring back and who to let go. Not only that, but they have plenty of holes to fill on the roster. So, it will all be about balancing the cap structure with those that are essential to the team in the future.
