The Houston Texans have elevated former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Khalil Davis from their practice squad to their active roster for the team’s game on Sunday, according to a report by Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 in Houston.

Davis, the twin brother of fellow former Steelers defensive lineman Carlos Davis, spent part of the 2021 season with the Steelers practice squad and the entire 2022 offseason with the club before being released ahead of the regular season.

Davis spent the 2022 season on the practice squads of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Los Angeles Rams without playing in a game. He then caught on with the Birmingham Stallions of the USFL and played there in the spring. He had 15 tackles and one sack with Birmingham, which earned him an opportunity with the Texans.

Davis signed in Houston on Aug. 6 and was released after the preseason, but re-signed with the practice squad. He was activated for the team’s Week 3 game, as well. He had two tackles, a pass defended and a quarterback in the Texans’ win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Twin brother Carlos Davis, who spent the entire 2022 season with the Steelers on practice squad, is now a free agent. He was released by the Atlanta Falcons after training camp.
