The Houston Texans are set to release wide receiver Noah Brown, would could certainly be an option for the Pittsburgh Steelers to add to their wide receiver room.
According to a report by Aaron Wilson of KPRC-TV in Houston, the Texans are releasing Brown. As a vested veteran, he will not have to clear waivers and could sign with any team as soon as Wednesday.
Brown, 28, spent the 2023 season in Houston and re-signed with the Texans on a one-year contract for 2024, but was released after the Texans added Stefon Diggs to their receivers room this offseason.
The 6-foot-2, 215-pound receiver has mostly played outside receiver throughout his career, though he has played more in the slot as of late. Per Pro Football Focus, he spent 40% of his snaps in the slot last season.
With Houston in 2023, Brown played in 10 games and made seven starts. He caught 33 of 55 targets for 567 yards and two touchdowns. He had similar production in 2022 with the Dallas Cowboys, when he played in 16 games and caught 43 of 74 passes for 555 yards and three touchdowns. He was tied for second among Cowboys receivers in targets in 2022 and was fourth among Texans receivers in 2024.
The Steelers have been looking to add talent to their wide receivers room since trading Diontae Johnson in March. Brown would bring size that the Steelers do not currently have. Their top five receivers currently include 5-foot-9 Calvin Austin III, 5-foot-9 Scotty Miller and 5-foot-11 rookie Roman Wilson.
