team announced on Wednesday.

The Texans normally wear blue jerseys, blue helmets and white pants at home, but instead will break out their alternate look for this weekend, which features metallic red helmets and red jerseys over white pants.

They first unveiled the red helmets before the start of the 2022 season, coinciding with an NFL rule change that allowed teams to once again have multiple helmet shells. Multiple shells were previously restricted as the league worked to ensure that every player had access to the most modern and correctly fitted helmets possible.

The Texans have announced that they will wear the red outfits three times this season, but hadn’t announced two of the three dates. They will also wear them on Nov. 26 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Steelers, who do not have an alternate helmet but do wear two different black alternate jerseys, will wear their traditional road white uniforms for the second straight week.

In addition to the red, the Texans are calling Sunday’s game Legends Homecoming and are inducting J.J. Watt into the team’s ring of honor. The older brother of Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker T.J., Watt retired after the 2022 season. He spent 10 of his 12 NFL seasons in Houston.
