No More ‘Victory Mondays’ For the Steelers, Ray-Ray McCloud Says

The Steelers just got off the heels of what were the most exhausting 12 hours of their season. After the team fought and clawed their way to defeating the Ravens, they soon found out that the Jaguars defeated the Indianapolis Colts as well. That meant all that needed to occur was no tie on Sunday Night Football.

The Raiders kicked a last-second field goal in overtime to send the Chargers packing and the Steelers into the postseason. However, the Steelers can not harp on it for long as they head to Kansas City on Sunday night for a postseason clash. While the Steelers have most Mondays off, the team decided to have a meeting today. In fact, it was not victory Monday at all. it was just work.

“It’s back to business,” receiver Ray-Ray McCloud said. “It was fun and energized to get to the playoffs, but now that we’re in the playoffs we have to be ten toes down. Let’s get to work. We have a ‘there’s a lot more to be done’ attitude.”

The Steelers will have their hands full with the Chiefs this upcoming Sunday. After being drubbed in Kansas City just two weeks ago, the Steelers decided to start their process early as a team, rather than sit back and carry on the normal schedule.

“There’s no more victory Monday after this,” McCloud said. “You have to come in and go to work right away… usually on Monday we don’t come in at all. We come in to get to treatments. Today, we decided to come and have a team meeting. Let’s start the process and prepare early. It’s win or go home now.”

It seems that sense of urgency is what the Steelers are working with as they move forward with the games now. They certainly did not expect to be in this position at this point, but with some veterans with playoff experience, the Steelers will look to come out on top and shock the Chiefs.
