The Pittsburgh Maulers are looking for reinforcements after being the only of eight teams to start the season 0-3.

Head coach Kirby Wilson is welcoming a local product to try and help turn the team around.

The Maulers announced Wednesday that former Thomas Jefferson and Virginia linebacker Zane Zandier has been signed to the team. Linebacker Blair Brown was released as the corresponding roster move.

Zandier played for the Cavaliers from 2017 to 2020 and passed on his extra year of eligibility granted by the COVID-19 pandemic and declared for the 2021 NFL Draft.

The former WPIAL champion was not selected and entered free agency. He was examined by the Philadelphia Eagles for a tryout but nothing materialized toward making the team for in 2021.

He finished his career in Virginia with 253 tackles and 9.5 sacks in 48 games played.

Zandier announced in February his intentions to join the USFL for the 2022 season.
