Two cornerbacks that could be options for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft are rising up the draft board of one of the NFL’s most prominent evaluators.

Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com released his updated Top 50 prospects list for the 2024 NFL Draft on Monday, and two Steelers cornerback options were among the big risers.

One of those players is Toledo cornerback Quinyon Mitchell, who the Steelers scouted heavily during the season and Mike Tomlin paid special attention to him during the 2024 Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama.

Mitchell is ranked as the No. 15 prospect in Jeremiah’s big board, up four spots from the initial list, which was published in January.

“Mitchell has excellent size, speed and toughness for the position,” wrote Jeremiah. “He has exceptional ball skills, but he wasn’t challenged very often in 2023. I love his desire and physicality against the run.”

Another rising cornerback on Jeremiah’s board is Clemson cornerback Nate Wiggins, who lifted his stock from No. 30 to No. 25.

“Wiggins is a tall, long cornerback with outstanding speed,” Jeremiah wrote. “He is effective in press coverage. He gets his hands on receivers, but he’ll need to let go earlier at the next level.”

Of course, that is just one man’s opinion, even if Jeremiah is one of the most influential talent evaluators in the NFL arena.

On the NFL Mock Draft Database consensus big board, Mitchell is 15th and Wiggins is 16th.

As with all defensive backs, how they run in the 2024 NFL Combine in Indianapolis this week will greatly impact their stock in April’s draft.
