TAMPA, Florida — George Pickens scored the first preseason touchdown of the 2023 season, and he did it in typically spectacular fashion, shaking off one defender and eluding another to strike for a https://twitter.com/sn_nfl/status/1690141263620689920″>33-yard

score.

On a third and 8, Kenny Pickett had time to survey the field and when tight end Pat Freiermuth was double covered, he went to his second read, Pickens, who had a defender all over his back.

Pickett’s rifled throw created space for Pickens, who shook off his trailer and juked a second defender out of his shoes on his way to pay dirt.

Pickens capped off a successful opening drive for the first-team offense, which all played together and then came off the field together after his score.

Pickens has been working on developing his route tree to include more inward-breaking routes like that one, so the score should be seen as strong evidence of progress in that area.
