Western Pa. Native, Western Michigan WR Skyy Moore Met with Steelers
INDIANAPOLIS — The Steelers will always be linked to Pittsburgh natives who grew up around the Steelers culture. That is no different for Western Michigan receiver and Shady Side Academy graduate Skyy Moore. After three productive seasons, Moore declared for the draft, and he has now met with the Steelers.
When speaking with the media of Wednesday, Moore confirmed that he has met with his hometown team while in Indianapolis.
“I have met with the Steelers already,” Moore confirmed. “I hope I can meet with Coach Tomlin here, too!”
Moore grew up with Tomlin’s son, Dino, and played with him while at Shady Side Academy. The Steelers need a receiver as well, so landing someone like Moore would make a whole lot of sense for the Steelers and what they are looking for. He has the Pittsburgh ties, the speed the Steelers need, and a prior relationship to Tomlin already manufactured into the fabric of his draft profile.
While it may not happen for certain, Moore has the makings of a potential Pittsburgh Steeler. With 95 catches for 1292 and 10 touchdowns in 2021, the production factor with Moore is there as well. His connection with fellow NFL Draft prospect Kaleb Eleby was one of the most electric in the entire nation. If the Steelers are so inclined to pick a quarterback on day two of the draft, Moore may just hear his name called from his hometown team.
