Just mere hours away from the start of the free agency tampering period, the Pittsburgh Steelers have plenty of work to do in their pursuit to improve the roster. After releasing safety Keanu Neal, Omar Khan will be in the market for another quality safety to compliment Minkah Fitzpatrick. Surprisingly, there are a plethora of talented options available at the moment, with various different skill sets for their choosing. Will he make a big splash or will they look for a veteran stop-gap option?
SN analyst Derrick Bell breaks down his favorite fits to help improve a secondary that certainly struggled at times last season. It’s worth noting that the safety draft class is less than optimal and considered shallow while also lacking many top-tier options this year. It’s safe to assume that the Steelers will add a safety sooner rather than later, with a preference to add a true-three down starter that will allow them get younger in the back end.
