What to Expect for Steelers at NFL Owner’s Meetings

PALM BEACH, Fla. — The Pittsburgh Steelers and the rest of the NFL have gathered in Palm Beach, Florida for the league’s annual owner’s meetings, and as always, Steelers Now is right there with them.
Here’s what to expect for the next few days from Palm Beach:
Sunday, March 30
Time TBD: Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin will have a sit-down interview with members of the Pittsburgh media.
This will be the first time Tomlin has spoken publicly since his end-of-season press conference back in January, so there is plenty to catch up on, including the team’s moves made through free agency, upcoming preparations for the 2025 NFL Draft, and his take on the proposed rule changes as a member of the competition committee.
Monday, April 1
7:45 a.m: All of the AFC head coaches will have a breakfast-table interview with the national and local media, Tomlin included.
Time TBD: Steelers general manager Omar Khan will have a sit-down interview with members of the Pittsburgh media. Khan speaks just a handful of times per season, having last talked with the media at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis in late February. Last season, he announced a few free agent signings at these meetings.
Starting on Monday, we may see announcements about proposed rule and bylaw changes passing and failing, including a ban on the tush push, the Steelers’ proposal to make changes to the free agency contact period, implementing playoff overtime, and others.
At some point this week, NFL International will provide an update on the league’s overseas games this season, including the Steelers’ trip to Dublin, Ireland.
The NFL and NFLPA also annually update the health and safety measures put forth by the team. Items such as the effacing of guardian caps and the ban on hip-drop tackles in 2024 will likely be discussed.

Tuesday, April 2
7:45 a.m: All NFC head coaches will have a breakfast-table interview with the national and local media.
Time TBD: The remainder of the proposed NFL rule changes will likely be announced as passing or failing by Tuesday afternoon.
Steelers president Art Rooney II will have a briefing with members of the local media following the close of the meetings.
