INDIANAPOLIS — The 2023 NFL Scouting Combine will continue on Thursday, with the second group of players taking to the podium at the Indiana Convention Center to speak to the media during the most important part of the pre-draft process, while the first group hits the turf at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Here’s what we’re watching for on Thursday:
AT THE PODIUM
Making their first appearance in Indianapolis this week will be a group that should be important to the Pittsburgh Steelers, as the safeties and cornerbacks will speak with the media at the Indiana Convention Center. The safeties are up first, followed by the cornerbacks. The specialists will also speak to the media on Thursday, as well.
The Steelers are probably interested in talking to almost all of the corners, but standouts include Christian Gonzalez (Oregon), Jaylon Jones (Texas A&M), Clark Phillips (Utah), Emmanuel Forbes (Mississippi), Riley Moss (Iowa), Joey Porter Jr. (Penn State), Tyrique Stevenson (Miami), Devon Witherspoon (Illinois), Kelee Ringo (Georgia), Cam Smith (South Carolina), Garrett Williams (Syracuse) and Kyu Blu Kelly (Stanford).
ON THE FIELD
The linebackers and defensive linemen that spoke with the media on Wednesday will be performing their on-field drills this afternoon at 3 p.m. on NFL Network.
Some of the highlights include Iowa defensive lineman Luke Van Ness, Baylor nose tackle Siaki Ika, Clemson linebacker Trenton Simpson, Arkansas linebacker Drew Sanders, Clemson defensive tackle Bryan Bresee and Alabama linebacker Henry To’oto’o.
LOCAL CONNECTIONS
Several people with local connections are expected to hit the podium on Thursday, including Porter, the son of former Steelers linebacker Joey Porter that starred at North Allegheny before his college career, Pitt safety Brandon Hill and Penn State safety Ji’Ayir Brown.
Running today will be Pitt defensive tackle Calijah Kancey, defensive end Haba Baldonado and linebacker SirVocea Dennis, Penn State defensive tackle P.J. Mustipher and West Virginia defensive tackle Dante Stills.
HOW TO WATCH THE 2023 NFL COMBINE
Both NFL Network and Sirius XM Radio will have live coverage from Indianapolis throughout the day, though the on-field events like the 40-yard dash don’t start until Thursday.
