Where Can Steelers Attack Ravens Defense? | Steelers Morning Rush

Steelers Ravens

Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it’s were the Steelers can attack the Baltimore Ravens defense.

Patrick Queen and Rowan Smith were a dynamic duo at linebacker for the Baltimore Ravens, ever since Smith came over in a mid-season trade from the Chicago Bears in 2022. This past offseason, both players came due for a new contract. The Ravens shelled out $100 million for Smith, and said no thanks to Queen, who came to Pittsburgh on a $41 million deal.

In the early part of the 2024 season, both Smith and Queen have struggled to replicate the success they had together in new locales. Smith and new partner Trenton Simpson have allowed over 80% of the passes thrown their way to be completed, while Queen was slow to find impact plays as part of the Steelers defense.

The Steelers have not had a game yet this season where tight end Pat Freiermuth has been a big part of the offensive game plan, but with the Ravens linebackers struggling in coverage, this might be the week.
