Will the Steelers Go Offense or Defense in the First Round?
The first round of the 2021 NFL Draft is just eight days away, and odds have been released for whether the Pittsburgh Steelers will go offense or defense at No. 24.
Pittsburgh is -300 (1/3) to draft an offensive player in the first round, +200 (2/1) to address the defensive side of the ball.
While mock draft projections for the Steelers have been all over the place for months, their appears to be a consensus that Pittsburgh will look to bolster its subpar running game from a season ago.
This would either be accomplished by selecting a player like Alabama running back Najee Harris or an offensive tackle or center to provide a boost in the trenches. Harris has been the most popular player mocked to the Steelers by far.
Still, a defensive player is not out of the question either. Pittsburgh is in need of depth at corner after the departures of both Mike Hilton in the slot and Steven Nelson on the boundary.
Some draft analysts have even projected the Steelers to select an edge rusher, but that seems unlikely considering they already have T.J. Watt and just selected Alex Highsmith in the third round last year.
The 2021 NFL Draft gets underway Thursday, April 29 in Cleveland.
