Zac Taylor: Bengals CB Trae Waynes to Miss Season Opener Against Vikings

Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Trae Waynes will miss the club’s season opener against the Minnesota Vikings with a hamstring injury, head coach Zac Taylor said Monday.

Waynes was selected by the Vikings with the 11th pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, but he struggled to find consistency and health in Minnesota.

He signed a three-year, $42 million deal with the Bengals in 2020, but suffered a pectoral injury in his first training camp with the team, forcing him to miss the entire season.

Waynes recorded 247 total tackles, 42 passes defended and seven interceptions over five seasons in Minnesota.

Unfortunately for Waynes, the lingering hamstring injury will spoil his first opportunity for a revenge game against his former team.
