Former Steelers WR Antonio Brown is set to become a part of the ownership group for the AFL’s Albany Empire, according to Rodger Wyland of WNYT 13.
In Albany is where his father, Eddie Brown, cut his teeth to become a legend of the team. He played for the team and become a legend as an offensive specialist as part of the Albany Firebirds. That was back in the 1990s where his father carved out a niche to become a star.
In a Twitter video, Brown shared the big news from his house. In Albany, New York, Brown expressed excitement for the opportunity ahead of him. More importantly, it seems that this can create buzz for the program and be more than just a net positive for the team moving forward.
While he will not suit up, it is believed, Brown will carry on his father’s legacy that was left in Albany. It seems that Brown will take the next step in his life to join the ownership group.
Antonio Brown played for the Steelers from 2010-18. He last played in the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021. Brown won a Super Bowl with the Bucs after the 2020 season, but ended his tenure with the team, and to this point the NFL, when he quit on the team in the middle of a game against the New York Jets on Jan. 2, 2022.
