The Indianapolis Colts will wear throwback uniforms for their Saturday game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the team announced on Tuesday.

The Colts will wear throwbacks to the 1956 season, back when they played in Baltimore.

The blue uniforms will feature horizontal white stripes on the sleeves, as opposed to the vertical hoops on their standard blue home uniforms. The TV numbers will move from the sides of the shoulder pad to the top of the shoulder.

They will also wear a matching pattern on their socks, which are normally plain blue. Their white pants will feature one solid blue stripe instead of the double stripe on their normal uniforms.

Most notably, the Colts’ helmets will not have the team’s iconic horseshoe logo on the side, but on the rear, with one horseshoe on either side of the center stripe at the back of the helmet where the numbers are on standard Colts attire. The upper sides of the helmet are plain white.

The jerseys will feature a slightly different numeral font, as well.

This is the second straight season the Colts will wear their throwbacks against the Steelers. They debuted this particular throwback jersey in 2021.

The Steelers do not have a throwback version of their road uniform, so they’ll be unable to match the Colts in the throwback theme of the game. The Steelers have previously worm mid-50s throwbacks, when they wore black shirts with gold numbers and gold helmets.

In 1956 is an interesting year for the Colts to throwback to. They finished 5-7 that year, in fourth place in the NFL Western Conference. The Steelers also finished 5-7 that year, in fifth place in the east. The teams did not play each other. The Steelers and Colts have played each other 33 times in total, with the Steelers leading the all-time series, 27-6.

The Steelers wore their throwback uniforms earlier this year, against the Green Bay Packers.
