Daily Links: Steelers 2024 Super Bowl Longshots; Adrian Klemm Exit Explained

Steelers Adrian Klemm

Mike Reiss says former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive line coach Adrian Klemm butted heads with Matt Canada in Pittsburgh, and that’s why he left for Oregon early back at the end of the 2021 season.

“Word out of Pittsburgh is that Klemm and offensive coordinator Matt Canada weren’t an ideal fit, and head coach Mike Tomlin knew it wouldn’t carry into 2022, so he green-lit Klemm’s early departure. Tomlin publicly commented on Klemm at the time, praising his commitment while noting his desire to eliminate the perception of distractions.”

Klemm was hired as the New England Patriots offensive line coach last week

DraftKings listed the Steelers at +5500, or 55 to 1 to win Super Bowl LVIII. Only 11 teams had worse odds. FanDuel, BetMGM and Caesars all listed the Steelers at +5000. The Steelers’ odds were generally the worst in the AFC North. Cincinnati fared best at DraftKings at +900 and was followed by Baltimore (+2200) and Cleveland (+4000.)

Next year’s Super Bowl will be at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. It will be the first time ever that the Entertainment Capital of the World hosts a Super Bowl.

ESPN ranked the Steelers 14th in their early 2023 Power Rankings.

ESPN’s Field Yates predicts that the Steelers will re-sign Cam Sutton. “Sutton continues to improve and is among the top cornerbacks set to hit the market,” Yates wrote. “He’ll earn a decided raise from his $4.5 million average annual value deal that is currently playing on, but Pittsburgh has the resources to ensure Sutton sticks around at a position where it needs plenty of depth.”

Bleacher Report: Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report thinks a Javon Hargrave reunion in Pittsburgh doesn’t make sense due to the financial implications. “Hargrave has a projected market value of $20.1 million annually, which is well outside of Pittsburgh’s realistic price range,” Knox wrote. “He’s also unlikely to accept a team friendly offer, even if he did like the idea of a Steelers return. At 30 years old, Hargrave could be looking at his last opportunity for a significant payday. He won’t get it from the cap-strapped Steelers, and so he should be off their radar entirely.”

Najee Harris has his own action figure.
