🏈 Colin Cowherd thinks the Pittsburgh Steelers look foolish waiting on Aaron Rodgers to make a decision.
“The Giants and Steelers have backed themselves into a corner. The Giants have been reaching on quarterbacks, and the Steelers have been ignoring the position until it’s late in free agency for a long time. These two are being willingly detained,” Cowherd said on The Herd.
Cowherd added that the Steelers don’t take the quarterback position seriously. For this reason, he thinks Rodgers would be a better fit with the Giants because they have an offensive head coach.
“The Steelers lack of urgency at quarterback and tone-deaf sensibility to offense is their problem,” he said.
🏈 Former Steelers quarterback Justin Fields signed his two-year, $40 million deal with the New York Jets on Thursday.
🏈 Albert Breer thinks money is not the issue with Aaron Rodgers.
“I don’t think money is the issue right now. I think it really comes down to what Aaron Rodgers wants to do. Considering all of his options,” Breer said. ” Those options could include retirement. I wouldn’t completely rule that out although he did tell the Jets in his exit meeting that he intends to play in 2025. Certainly he wouldn’t be seeking his release from the Jets if it weren’t for having some desire to play. I don’t think you can rule out anything.”
Breer also added that Rodgers is the missing piece for the Steelers.
“With the Steelers it’s different as they’re asking him to come in and be the final piece to the puzzle and there are more contemporaries of Rodgers there. T.J. Watt is turning 31. Minkah Fitzpatrick is turning 29. Cam Heyward, obviously he’s an older player at the end of his career and they with some urgency already this offseason by going in and bringing DK Metcalf into the fold,” Breer said. “The reality of it to me at this situation I think the Giants would be asking him to do again a lot of what the Jets were asking him to do. Does that appeal to him? Maybe?”
🏈 Darius Slay said during his introductory press conference with the Steelers that Rod Woodson was one of his mentors entering the NFL. He also been wanting to play for Mike Tomlin for a long time.
🏈 Former NFL quarterback Rich Gannon thinks the Steelers make the most sense for Aaron Rodgers.
“He sees an opportuninty maybe to finish his career with a bang,” Gannon said about the Steelers being the best fit for the four-time league MVP.
