The DraftKings lines favor Los Angeles, who is a 3.5-point favorite. They’re -110 to cover the spread, while Indianapolis’ odds are the same. The Chargers are -200 on the money line and the Colts +170.
The total for this matchup is 44.5 points, with both the over and the under set at -110.
The Chargers (8-6) have come out on top in three of their last four outings, including a 17-14 home win over Tennessee last week.
Quarterback Justin Herbert has been hot as of late, as well, passing for at least 300 yards in three straight contests. He threw for 367 yards in a Week 14 triumph over Miami.
Herbert has gone for over 360 yards in a game five times in his career, with a career-best 398 yards against Cleveland in October 2021.
Meanwhile, this season has been a disappointing one for the Colts (4-9-1) who fired head coach Frank Reich last month and replaced him for the interim with former center and ESPN analyst Jeff Saturday.
Indianapolis’ last outing was disastrous, as it squandered a 33-point advantage on the road against Minnesota. The Colts wound up losing that clash, 39-36, in overtime.
The historic defeat — which saw the largest comeback in NFL history — raised even more questions about the appointment of Saturday, who hadn’t coached at any level higher than high school before taking over for the remainder of this year.
Veteran quarterback Matt Ryan caught some flack for the mishap also. He was behind center for Atlanta when the Falcons blew a 28-3 lead in Super Bowl LI. He’s been demoted to third-string for this game, as Nick Foles will start and Sam Ehlinger will serve as his understudy.
