Former Steelers linebacker Devin Bush is being tabbed as a trade candidate by the Athletic. The Seahawks have not played Bush much, and he has just three tackle on the season. He is set to be inactive for Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals, raising alarms that he could be on the move or at least on the outside soon. Still, in limited time, Bush has played well for Seattle.

“The Seahawks aren’t in position to be sellers, but one spot they could feel good about making a move is inside linebacker. Seattle has a surplus of talent at tight end and cornerback, though a trade at the former wouldn’t be worth it — and the cornerback room is too banged up to dump anyone right now. At inside linebacker, Seattle has Bobby Wagner and Jordyn Brooks playing at a high level, making Bush, who has played well in his limited opportunity, an expendable player. He’d immediately help a team in need of a coverage linebacker,” Seahawks beat writer Michael-Shawn Dugar wrote.

He signed a one-year deal with the Seahawks this offseason. Playing mostly special teams, Bush embraced the role set for him by coach Pete Carroll. If he does go on the move, it will be due to Seattle’s depth at the inside linebacker rather than his own doing.

Bush spent much of his four years in Pittsburgh maligned after suffering a torn ACL in his sophomore campaign against the Cleveland Browns. From there on, his play would worsen as he was thrown into a rotation with Myles Jack and Robert Spillane in 2022.

Bush, 24, was the Steelers’ first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft when the team traded up with the Denver Broncos to select him out of Michigan with the No. 10 overall selection. He never lived up to the billing of that draft pick in four seasons in Pittsburgh. Bush started 15 games in a promising rookie season in 2019, but he never recovered his form after an ACL injury caused him to miss most of the 2020 season.
