George Pickens got the short end of the stick when he went back and forth while trash-talking with the Jaguars defensive backs all week. He called them a ‘hope defense‘, but it backfired tremendously after the Steelers’ offense fell flat again, with the group putting up a measly ten points. Moving forward, it could be something that Pickens avoids doing.

Jaguars safety Andrew Wingard, who picked off Mitch Trubisky, has some advice for George Pickens. His trash talk fired up a Jaguars secondary who did not need any more ammo to come after the Steelers, and Wingard says that Pickens should advise against doing that for the future of his career.

“Man, truly, he needs some advice moving forward,” Wingard told Mia O’Brien of 1010XL. “You never put pressure, expectation on yourself. He did that. If hoping is getting a dub, we’ll take the dub. You don’t fire up a bunch of hungry dogs. It’s not smart. George, do better.”

Fellow safety Rayshawn Jenkins joined in on that message. George Pickens fired back at one of Jenkins’ original comments early in the week that Pickes was talented but had yet to see the Jaguars cornerbacks. For Jenkins, he knew that Pickens was a young player, but he needed to take it as a lesson.

“Man, you know, the hope,” Jenkins said. “Our defense was going to do whatever, I don’t know how they thought we were going to come in and play. But we would’ve hoped that they would come in and put up a better fight than that. He’s a young player, but you can’t chat before the game. You can’t do that. You have to walk the walk.”

Now, Pickens must take trash talk like this on the chin. When they talk up a game, it will get shot back in their direction. Pittsburgh is still 4-3, but they are not playing like a good football team. They will have to solve it quickly, as suddenly, a dynamic Titans team comes to Pittsburgh on Thursday to try and knock the Steelers off and down a few pegs.
