Steelers fans and players alike were not thrilled with how Jaguars safety Andrew Wingard and Rayshawn Jenkins celebrated with a Terrible Towel following Wingard’s interception of Mitch Trubisky. As a result, when the clip hit social media, many people were critical of Wingard.
This man disrespected the terrible towel and is now struggling to breathe as Art Rooney Sr suffocates him from the afterlife.

In another angle of the video, it appears a fan slaps Wingard while he goes and waves around the Terrible Towel following the interception.

Wingard rubbed salt in the wound after the game, calling out wide receiver George Pickens for his ‘hope defense’ comments on Thursday before the game. He and Jenkins did a joint interview where they ripped Pickens for making the comments, stating that he has to do better in the future.
“Man, truly, he needs some advice moving forward,” Wingard told Mia O’Brien of 1010XL. “You never put pressure, expectation on yourself. He did that. If hoping is getting a dub, we’ll take the dub. You don’t fire up a bunch of hungry dogs. It’s not smart. George, do better.”
Fellow safety Rayshawn Jenkins joined in on that message. George Pickens fired back at one of Jenkins’ original comments early in the week that Pickes was talented but had yet to see the Jaguars cornerbacks. For Jenkins, he knew that Pickens was a young player, but he needed to take it as a lesson.
“Man, you know, the hope,” Jenkins said. “Our defense was going to do whatever, I don’t know how they thought we were going to come in and play. But we would’ve hoped that they would come in and put up a better fight than that. He’s a young player, but you can’t chat before the game. You can’t do that. You have to walk the walk.”
On Monday, Wingard responded to all of the vitriol thrown his way. On his Instagram, he calls the Terrible Towel ‘their tiny towels’ while getting at Steelers fans for being emotional about how Wingard treated the towel during the team’s win against the Jaguars.
“These grown men crying about their tiny towels is bringing me so much joy,” Wingard said.

There’s always more than one side to this story, but this is just football at its best to me. For some reason, the Steelers and Jaguars always have these tense interactions and end up having headlines that include the aura around the game. It happened back in 2017 and is now happening again in 2023.
