Kevin Dotson Listed as Steelers Week 1 Starter at LG
Kevin Dotson will be the Steelers’ Week 1 starter against the Cincinnati Bengals according to the depth chart the team released on Monday.
Dotson and Kendrick Green were in a competition for the starting role since the beginning of the mandatory minicamp in May. However, it now culminates in a victory for Dotson, despite Dotson missing plenty of time with an ankle injury during training camp.
Green got his opportunity during the majority of training and in the preseason, but could not hold it down after a disappointing performance against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Dotson did not overlook his position during the entirety of training camp and through the last week. His hard work is not overlooked as he was awarded the starting role.
Green now becomes the main backup at the left guard spot. Kevin Dotson will be the starter at left guard for the second straight year. He will join Dan Moore Jr., Chuks Okorafor, James Daniels, and Mason Cole as starters on the offensive line. It will be an offensive line that must prove it has more in the tank than it showed in the preseason. If they can get quality players out of the offensive line, the Steelers could have their offense improve.
