Mike’d Up: Perception of Dwayne Haskins

Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins has been in the news a lot lately, and it hasn’t been for good reasons.

Haskins was the victim of a domestic assault when police alleged that he was punched in the face by his wife in a Las Vegas hotel/casino earlier this month.

He was also in the news over the weekend after Instagram model Vanessa Chantal posted direct messages between the two with Haskins asking for her to return $20,000 in gifts he purchased for her. Chantal declined.

Haskins has been hoping for a fresh start in Pittsburgh after two unsuccessful seasons as a starter for Washington, where he was the team’s first-round draft pick in 2019.

Mike Asti and Mike Vukovcan of Mike’d Up on Pittsburgh Sports Live discussed Haskins’ situation on Monday.

“When you have baggage like this and it’s been with you and it’s not a first-time thing, it’s not going away,” Vukovcan said.

The Mikes also discussed who the Penguins decided to leave unprotected and the fan perception around the Pirates after a positive past week.
