UNITY TWP., Pa — Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick has returned to Saint Vincent College and is with the team for the first time since last Friday. Fitzpatrick was excused by Mike Tomlin for personal reasons and has not practiced all of training camp, but appears to be back with the team now.

Not only is he back with the team, but Fitzpatrick is in full pads, and will practice on Saturday. That means he will be diving head-first into the training camp as a full-go. In addition, it looked like Damontae Kazee could return as well. So, the team could have some safety depth for the first time in a week after suffering a number of injuries at the position. Tomlin noted that he would not give out the reasoning why Fitzpatrick was not there, but it was a personal issue. He never revealed a timeline.

“Not that I’ll disclose,” Tomlin said on Wednesday. “He was excused by me and has my full support. That’s it.”

Regardless, Minkah Fitzpatrick is back and now with the team. So, it should be seen as a non-issue moving forward. The star safety is looking to get another All-Pro season in his belt after an impressive run last year that propelled him into becoming the league’s top safety in the eyes of many executives and scouts.
