Notre Dame offensive tackle Blake Fisher revealed during an appearance on The Sick Podcast with Mike Nicastro that he met with the offensive line coaches and even got the chance to meet team president Art Rooney II during his pre-draft visit, which took place on April 10.

“Meeting with the offensive line coaches, went over some film and for them to get to know me a little bit more. Getting to meet with Coach (Mike) Tomlin and Omar (Khan). I kind of had a quick conversation with the owner (Art Rooney II), so it was sweet,” Fisher told Nicastro.

Fisher also disclosed that he loved the city and has some familiarity with Pennsylvania, as he played with a bunch of PA products at Notre Dame.

“Man, Pittsburgh was beautiful. I (played with) a lot of offensive lineman (at) Notre Dame that are from PA. It’s just cool to see what they talk about. They always say the best offensive lineman come out of PA. I’m just like whatever,” Fisher joked.. “But, nah, it was beautiful. The organization to meet everyone there, it was phenomenal.”

Fisher played at right tackle for the Fighting Irish and put up some impressive tape across from Joe Alt. He is young but has lots of raw upside that could be molded, and certainly, he could end up starting at some point in his rookie season. Regardless, Fisher is a 6-foot-5, 310-pound tackle with 34 3/8-inch arms, which all check off the boxes that the Steelers like at that position.

An explosive and laterally athletic player, Fisher plays with more finesse than power, but he could thrive in the Arthur Smith scheme by working in space. He plays a little wild at times, and that will need to be controlled with his technique, which is why he is thought of as a mid-round prospect rather than someone who will go earlier. He would be an ideal target for the team at their 84th overall selection.

Fisher formally met with the Steelers at the NFL Combine, so this is not the first inkling of their interest in him. But it is starting to appear at least that the team is jumping into the tank of scouting some of these mid-round tackle prospects. And Fisher checks many of the boxes that they would like from their tackles.
