Report: Brandon Aiyuk Wants North of $25 Million

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been embroiled in Brandon Aiyuk trade rumors but aside from that, they would have to pay a pretty penny to land him.

If the Pittsburgh Steelers somehow land Brandon Aiyuk, there will be more than just the capital needed to acquire him. But the Steelers will have to pay Aiyuk near the top of the market money on top of that if they want to land him. And according to Mike Silver, Aiyuk wants $25 million or more from the 49ers, but they have not shown themselves to pay that money.

With CeeDee Lamb and Justin Jefferson set to break the bank soon enough, paying that much for Aiyuk would not be that stunning, especially after Calvin Ridley got a massive contract on the open market from the Tennessee Titans.

Aiyuk sparked speculation with the Steelers when he sent a message to Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin on X, stating “@CoachTomlin they saying we twins. What you think?”

Joining the NightCap Show, Brandon Aiyuk commented back on those comments, specifically about what he wants from the 49ers and the contract extension.

“I’m trying to get what I deserve. I felt like this season, playing football, I figured out who I was as a person, as a player, what I bring to the table, what I bring to a locker room, what I bring to an organization and just the value I hold when I walk into that building because people are gonna follow me because I’ve done it the right way since I’ve been in that building,” Aiyuk said. “From the first day I walked in there, to when I was in there early this morning, I’ve done it the right way… Like I said, I can’t get into it, we got professionals working on both sides, so hopefully we can come to a professional agreement.”

The most recent example of a top-flight receiver being dealt with in a similar situation was A.J. Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles. They parted with their first-round pick and their later third-round pick, the No. 101 overall pick in that year’s class. So, using that parameter, you could create a theory that maybe 20th overall and 98th overall could do it. However, the 49ers could want more than that, mainly because there has to be a clear desire to keep Aiyuk.

You are only worth what some team is willing to pay. With the great slate of new WRs entering the league every season now the days of veteran WR getting insane sized contracts are numbered.

Two words- No way! Unless a WR is like Hines Ward, Stallworth, or Swan it’s best to rotate those ‘head-case” guys out, let another team pay, and take the comp pick. Colbert drafted one every season to keep the position fresh and that’s a strategy Khan will hopefully embrace.

The top NFL WRs are having a grand ole time in the game, today… What the WRs are experiencing is what NFL RBs experienced in the early 2000s… Along with the star QBs, they are, primarily, the ones who are moving the ball and scoring the points… The WRs at the top of the chain are going to bank and get serious Bag — along with the QBs… If I’m a GM, I’m choosing, very carefully, who I give The Bag to… I, certainly, wouldn’t have given it to Calvin Ridley (but it’s cool that he got it from someone… Read more »
