Steelers fans have been eagerly awaiting Broderick Jones’ arrival to the starting lineup, and the 2023 first-round pick made sure not to disappoint. In a high-stakes rivalry contest, Jones played well above even the loftiest expectations as he flashed in the run game while being proficient in pass protection.

Steelers Now analyst Derrick Bell broke down his NFL debut, detailing Broderick Jones’ what made his performance so impressive while also explaining some of the things that he’ll need to continue working on as time moves on. It’s just one game, but it’s hard to watch the tape and not become bullish about this kid’s potential as a franchise-caliber left tackle. Pittsburgh would be wise to continue allowing Jones to hold down Kenny Pickett’s blindspot and learn while on the job, as the rewards could be bountiful.

Even when Dan Moore Jr. gets back, Jones may have put up enough strong tape to usurp the veteran left tackle out of his starting job. Pittsburgh will still have to work on the rough edges in Jones’ game, but his upside is palpable on the tape when you watch it.

Of course, make sure to subscribe to Derrick’s channel for more video breakdowns moving forward.
