CINCINNATI — Steelers center Mason Cole went down with a left ankle injury and he is questionable to return to the game. J.C. Hassenauer has come in to replace the Steelers’ starting center.

Cole was injured on a routine passing play where he got rolled up on by D.J. Reader of the Bengals. He was helped off by trainers and gingerly walked into the blue medical tent.

The Steelers can not afford to suffer many injuries on their offensive line. It is a unit that has already started struggling, and Cole, their veteran center, is one of the veteran leaders of the group. Thus far in the game, they have struggled to get a running game established and the passing game has been largely stagnant to this point.

Cole joins cornerback Levi Wallace as players who have left the game with injuries for the Steelers. For the rest of the game, the Steelers will have to work with a new center, which can cause communication and everything else to change up front for the Steelers moving forward.

Mason Cole got his left ankle retaped and put his shoe back on after coming out of the medical tent. That means Cole could be available at the very least, though he did not have a helmet with him at the time.

Cole has now returned to the game after leaving with an ankle injury.
