Multiple Steelers Safeties Miss Practice

Steelers Keanu Neal

UNITY TWP., Pa — The Steelers did not have any new injuries on Thursday. But the existing ones are seemingly taking a toll on the team’s safety room. Both Damontae Kazee (ankle) and Keanu Neal (undisclosed) did not practice. Minkah Fitzpatrick (for personal reasons) did not practice, as he was not there. Neal was banged up yesterday, while Kazee got injured on Saturday. Fitzpatrick has not practiced yet at training camp.

That left Kenny Robinson and Tre Norwood as the first-team safeties. In other injury news, DeMarvin Leal (ankle) did not practice after being rolled up on in a pass rush drill yesterday. Regardless, he was the only defensive lineman out for injury. Elandon Roberts (undisclosed) was limited and did not participate in team drills for the second straight day.

Meanwhile, a slew of veterans had a day off. That included Patrick Peterson, Cam Heyward, T.J. Watt, Allen Robinson II, Diontae Johnson, and Isaac Seumalo. Numerous other veterans had their repetitions weaned down a bit in order for younger guys to get exposure.

Regardless, it appears that the Steelers are ramping up for a physical Friday Night Lights practice tomorrow. That practice should be in pads and is usually one of the more intense practices the team has all year and at training camp.
