Steelers Sustain Two New Injuries at Training Camp

Steelers CB Cory Trice

UNITY TWP., Pa — The Steelers sustained two new injuries in their first padded practice on Tuesday in Latrobe, with cornerback Cory Trice suffering an injury and linebacker Elandon Roberts being unable to finish the practice as well, Mike Tomlin said.

Tomlin described the nature of Trice’s injury as ‘non-contact’. He went down with a right leg injury and did not bear weight on the injured leg. Trice ended up taking the cart back to the locker room. It seems to be a concerning injury that the Steelers are internally worried about being very serious.

Trice is the latest injury in the secondary, joining Damontae Kazee as another injured player. Minkah Fitzpatrick has yet to practice after being excused for personal reasons. The Steelers will now turn to more of James Pierre with Trice down and injured.

Meanwhile, Roberts appears to have a tamer injury. Tomlin said that while he could not finish practice, the injury is not serious and was more precautionary than anything. So, it appears that even if Roberts misses a little bit of time, it should not be expected to be long-term.

In addition, rookie running back Alfonzo Graham suffered a torn labrum and had a sling on his shoulder. He did not practice on Tuesday.
