AT STAKE
Mike Tomlin said that the Steelers starting battles will go down to the end of the preseason, so we will find out after Sunday who will be the team’s starter at quarterback (Trubisky, Pickett, Rudolph), left guard (Kendrick Green, Kevin Dotson) and inside linebacker (Devin Bush, Rob Spillane).
NFL teams must cut down their rosters from 80 players to 53 on Tuesday, so for several players, this will be the end of the road on their 2022 journey.
TRANSACTIONS
The Steelers claimed safety Elijah Riley (37) off waivers from the New York Jets, signed tackle Adrian Ealy (72) and released safety Donovan Stiner, outside linebacker Genard Avery, wide receiver Christian Blake, running back Mateo Durant, quarterback Chris Oladokun, kicker Nick Sciba and tackle Jordan Tucker.
The team released running back Master Teague III and outside linebacker Tuzar Skipper from the injured reserve list.
INJURY REPORT
DL Isaiahh Loudermilk (side), DT Montravius Adams (ankle), WR Calvin Austin III (foot sprain) and NB Arthur Maulet (hamstring) all said they will not play.
OLB Alex Highsmith (ribs) is doubtful to play.
The status of OT Joe Haeg (concussion protocol and OT Chuks Okorafor (undisclosed) are unknown.
ILB Marcus Allen (hamstring) and FB Derek Watt (shoulder) are likely to play.
Cam Sutton will once again move to slot corner to replace Maulet, with Levi Wallace filling in on the outside. Hamilcar Rashed Jr. and Derek Tuszka are in line to fill in for Highsmith. Trent Scott will fill in at right tackle if Haeg and Okorafor don’t play.
