Ravens WR Still Not Ready to Practice after Reporting Late
Top Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Rashod Bateman is still not ready, despite reporting to training camp on Monday.
Bateman was late to report to the start of Baltimore’s training camp, failing to show for the first practice session on Friday.
On Monday, he reported to work, but it was determined that he is still not healthy enough to participate in practice. Bateman was placed on the physically unable to perform list on Monday afternoon.
Bateman did participate in the spring portion of the Ravens’ offseason program while he rehabbed a foot injury that had required surgery.
The team’s first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Bateman is expected to start along with free agent acquisition Odell Beckham Jr. for the Ravens at wide receiver this year. Bateman had 515 yards on 46 catches as a rookie in 2021, but was held to just six games last season due to multiple foot injuries.
Behind him on the Baltimore depth chart are 2023 first-round pick Zay Flowers, who is expected to play in the slot, veteran free agent Nelson Agholor and returners Devin Duvernay and James Proche II.
At cornerback, the Ravens saw one player exit and another arrive on Monday. Veteran cornerback Marcus Peters agreed to a deal with the Las Vegas Raiders, ending his lengthy free agency. In turn, the Ravens snapped up former Steelers corner Art Maulet.
