The Cleveland Browns are releasing wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., according to a report by Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Beckham’s release comes after a week of contentiousness between him and the team. He was told not to report to practice this week after the team tried and failed to trade him before Tuesday’s deadline.

A video by Beckham’s father, posted to social media after the Steelers beat the Browns last Sunday, was extremely critical of Cleveland quarterback Baker Mayfield, and a deteriorating relationship between Beckham and Mayfield appears to be the impetus for the receiver’s exit from Cleveland.

Beckham will go through waivers, where any team can claim him that wants to absorb the remainder of his contract, which according to Schefter, he and the Browns are in the process of renegotiating to facilitate his release.

Cleveland is scheduled to pay Beckham the remainder of his $14.5 million salary this season and then $15 million in salary and bonuses in each of the next two seasons,.
